Making vegetable juices at home has become our passion, and we’ve already shared how to make one of our all-time favourites with beets, lemon, and ginger. Consider juicing as a quick approach to provide your body with a variety of vitamins and nutrients. We don’t perform juice cleanses or substitute juice for meals. Instead, we prefer producing a small glass of veggie-packed juice to pair with our breakfast or lunch, which is typically high in fibre.
When juicing, we tend to stick to largely vegetables because adding a lot of fruit causes the sugar content to soar. Beets and carrots are currently our favourite vegetables to juice because they are naturally sweet and don’t require a lot of fruit to make delicious juice.
For this simple green juice recipe, we blend cucumber, parsley, ginger, lemon, and green apple—all of which are strong in alkalinity. Spinach has a moderate flavour and is packed with nutrients; lemon and ginger offer zing; cucumber adds mineral-rich water; and apple provides a touch of sweetness to bring everything together.
How to Make the Green Detox Juice We Love
We have an Omega juicer, which we adore. The vast majority of juicers available fall into one of two categories: centrifugal juicers or slow juicers/cold pressed (also known as macerating) juicers. This essentially means that the fruits or vegetables are gently pressed down using a cold press method until all of the juice is extracted and the now-dry fibrous pulp is transferred to another container. By rapidly rotating decomposed vegetables or fruits around, a centrifugal juicer swiftly separates the juice from the pulp.
Typically, centrifugal juicers are less expensive. There is still disagreement over whether the spinning mechanism generates heat, which might potentially destroy enzymes. We find it more crucial that centrifugal juicers don’t extract as much juice from the produce, which could increase the price of food.
It is a slow cold-pressed juicer that we use. We are overjoyed with it. You can read all about it here if you want to see for yourself.
The Omega juicer is quite efficient when it comes to juicing greens. When creating juices at home, you may occasionally get away without a juicer; we show you how to prepare our beetroot juice with a blender. A blender simply won’t do for greens; it is always advisable to use a high-quality juicer.

Benefits to Health and the Quality of This Green Drink
Let’s geek out a little together since I adore learning about all the benefits of vegetables.
Our preferred sweetener for green juices is green apple. It is inexpensive and effectively counteracts any bitterness or earthiness in the greens. Apples are a wonderful source of vitamin A, vitamin C, and potassium when juiced while the skin is still on. Apples aid in digestion, the breakdown of pollutants, and the lowering of cholesterol. Apples with the peel on should be added; the core should not be juiced. The ideal apple seeds for us might not be.
In addition to being a strong antioxidant, parsley is also a nutrient powerhouse, including high levels of potassium, iron, magnesium, vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C, vitamin E, and vitamin K. Even though parsley has a potent flavour, juicing it only requires a small amount of the stems and leaves to impart a fresh flavour and vivid green colour. With the lemon, cucumber, and apple, it is perfectly balanced.
Iron content in spinach is high—almost twice as high as in other greens. Spinach is our go-to green for juicing because it’s readily available and reasonably priced. It goes well with other fruits and vegetables due to its mild flavour. Spinach has a high mineral and vitamin content and is alkalizing. powerful in every way!
Vitamin A, B complex, vitamin C, and folic acid are all abundant in cucumbers. It helps to hydrate cells, control body temperature, and reduce inflammation. Its high silica content also helps to strengthen nails and treat skin conditions including acne and hair loss. We adore adding cucumber to our juices since it has a mild flavour and adds a lot of water rich in minerals. Numerous studies have also examined the anti-cancer potential of cucumbers.
We prefer to use cucumbers with thinner skin; hot house or English cucumbers are ideal.
Lemons are rich in vitamin C, which strengthens the immune system, and also provide potassium and vitamin B6. They are well known for their detoxifying and antioxidant effects (hello, gorgeous skin), and they are quite alkalizing. Oh, and if you’re a touch anaemic like me, all that vitamin C helps with iron absorption from the greens.
Ginger is extremely potent in juices. Ginger contains potent anti-inflammatory properties, supports digestion, and reduces bloating because of gingerols. Ginger doesn’t require peeling before being added to the juice.
If you’re sensitive to the warming/spicy nature of ginger, start with a smaller amount and increase it from there.

The spinach and parsley in this juice are both mildly flavorful. Cucumber adds mineral-rich water, while lemon and ginger give zest. With the exception of a lemon, we don’t add any additional sugar or fruit to apples because they are naturally sweet. Consider putting a few extra apples or carrots through the juicer if the juice is too tart. If you’re sensitive to the warming/spicy nature of ginger, start with a smaller amount and increase it from there.
Makes approximately two servings
YOU WILL NEED
2 cups packed baby spinach leaves
Handful parsley leaves and stems
1 medium green apple, rinsed with core removed
1 large seedless (hothouse or English) cucumber, rinsed
1-inch length piece fresh ginger, scrubbed clean
GET THE VEGETABLES READY
Prepare the apple, cucumber, and ginger by chopping them into thin, manageable pieces.
Remove the lemon’s yellow peel, preserving the majority of the white pith and lemon meat. Remove any seeds before cutting into pieces.
BLEND JUICE
Half of the lemon should be set aside. Start the juicer, and then alternately feed through the greens, the firmer cucumber, apple, and lemon. Juice everything except the reserved lemon, then whisk the mixture and check for tartness. If you think it can handle it, add the last of the lemon. Consider adding a few scrubbed, unpeeled carrots or another cored apple if the juice is too tart.
